The vineyard story
In the 1940s and ’50s, Leone Fabbioli made wine in the basement of his Elmira home. He carefully sorted the fruit, kept wine lots separate, and got to know the growers before buying their grapes. His attention to quality became a family tradition — one his grandson, Doug Fabbioli, carries forward today.
Doug and Colleen Berg’s vineyard dream took them to California in 1987 and back East in 1997, bringing years of knowledge and experience with them. In 2000, Colleen discovered a 25-acre parcel in southern Lucketts, just north of Leesburg. Planting began in 2001 with Merlot and a little Petit Verdot, alongside the building of their family home.
Today, Fabbioli Cellars brings those time-honored principles together with modern techniques and a shared commitment to fine wine, earth-friendly farming, and community. Meet Doug Fabbioli and discover the craftsmanship and family heritage behind the glass.
