The family behind it

For Stephen Bozzo and his wife Maureen, the vineyard began as a second act after Stephen's legal career. They purchased the property in 2013 and planted their first vines that year, setting out to build something the family could shape together.

Children and extended family helped establish the vineyard, and that family identity still runs through the experience. The tasting room opened on July 28, 2018. Today, the winery remains family-owned and operated, with an intimate atmosphere and a hands-on approach to welcoming guests.

A second act, a family story

Many of Bozzo's wines are named in honor of family members, making the labels part of the story rather than simply a list of grapes. The name “2nd Act” also reflects the vineyard's beginnings: a new chapter built around wine, land, and time together.

The wine program

Bozzo's approach centers on small-batch, hands-on winemaking, with estate-grown fruit and carefully managed leased vines contributing to its story. The aim is to let the fruit and place speak, while keeping the wines approachable enough to share around a table.

Its program includes aromatic whites, Cabernet Franc, red blends, and rosé, alongside other red varieties. The winery has received competition recognition for its wines, including Virginia Governor's Cup awards. Ask about the current flight selections and releases when you visit.

The spaces

The hillside setting is part of the experience: vineyard rows, mature trees, and views toward the Short Hill Mountains frame an afternoon outdoors. Picnic tables, outdoor chairs, a covered deck, and other sheltered seating give guests different ways to settle in. Picnics and blankets are welcome.

Indoors, the tasting room is small, bright, and casual. Seating is first come, first served for parties of two to six, and there is no tasting-room bar seating. There is no separate adults-only area.

For larger events, the venue offers outdoor packages for 25–75 guests, with tent and rental arrangements available. Confirm the layout and capacity for your occasion directly with the venue.

Accessibility

The entrance is recorded as wheelchair accessible. Indoor seating and restroom accessibility are not yet confirmed; contact the venue about your specific needs.

Looking ahead: thoughtful improvements

The family has described plans for a more efficient winery building, including enhanced insulation, dark-sky lighting, efficient climate-control systems, and wastewater pretreatment. These are plans and mixed-status improvements, rather than a verified list of completed installations or environmental certifications.
